In 2025, a Bible Church in Central Illinois reapplied for a Mission Match matching contribution to continue the support in completing a mother-child clinic in Worgbato, Ghana. Upon completion, the clinic will provide antenatal, labor and delivery services, pediatric care, child welfare, and nutritional assistance to approximately 7,000 people in Worgbato and neighboring areas.
The church began supporting the clinic in both 2022 and 2023 and the clinic is nearing completion. “The legal proceedings concerning the land ownership are near an end and the finishing of the construction will soon start on the interior of the clinic.” according to the Mission Chair. IHDN (International Health & Development Network) has faced many challenges in completing the clinic, including major flooding in Worgbato and the surrounding areas in October of 2023. As a result, much of the village became inaccessible and construction on the clinic was suspended for several months. As of January 2025, some of the equipment for construction was shipped to Ghana, but much is still needed in the completion of the clinic, including plastering, windows, doors, tiling, electrical fittings, A/C carpentry, plumbing and much of the medical equipment.

The members of the church continued to promote raising funds for the project in Ghana through their church services by presenting information to the congregation on the goal of Mission Match, the Under 5 Mortality Rate (U5MR) in 40 countries, and the part they could play in saving children’s lives through supporting their medical project in Ghana. They once again used their thermometer display (above) to track how much money was being raised, as well as including pictures of the clinic in its final stages of construction. The church involved the children in their Sunday school classes by teaching them about the clinic and using a decorated baby bottle labeled “GHANA” that the children could fill with money that they had collected. One Sunday School teacher shared an eight-year-old’s experience when he was aware that the boy in his class had been challenged to memorizing Psalm 23. When he successfully did so, the boy was rewarded with a $5 bill and a $10 dollar bill. The little boy excitedly told his teacher, “I have money to put in the offering for Ghana!” and deposited the $5 bill.

For the third time, the church surpassed the Mission Match matching contribution amount of $3,000 by raising a total of $5,362 for a total of $8,362. As shown in the photo, the Mission Chair then presented to the IHDN founders a check for the raised amount to help complete the clinic.

As previously stated in a prior application, “One of the goals of [the organization in Ghana] is to educate people not just on healthcare but also on the gospel itself. It is the faith of [this organization] which drives their medical missions work. Many who have been treated through the clinic or through village visits have never been to a doctor before.”
In the follow-up report, the Mission Chair wrote that they have worked hard toward sharing information about medical projects and the Mission Match matching contribution to both their congregation and to neighboring missionary churches. The Mission Chair also wrote that they plan on continuing medical projects next year in July of 2026.
